Innovative Education’s Project Based Curriculum expertly meets the expectations of the New Zealand Curriculum.

It embodies the eight principles of NZC and provides students with a comprehensive, rigorous curriculum that affirms their individual value and identity, and provides them with opportunities to develop the skills needed to become innovative, collaborative problem solvers for the future.

Innovative Education’s Project Based Curriculum was designed by our head consultant, Alwyn Poole. In writing the projects, he was motivated by a desire to put in place a curriculum and methods of learning that allow students to develop their knowledge and skills while retaining (or developing if they have lost it) an intrinsic love of learning.

Curriculum Design

IEC’s Project Based Curriculum treats the investigation of a topic as the basis for learning. Both knowledge and skills are valued, and are treated as seamless and interrelated. The traditional artificial barriers between subjects are broken down. Mathematics, Science, English, Social Studies, Art, Technology, Health & PE are integrated, creating a thematic project.

The complete IEC Project Based Curriculum is a four year comprehensive curriculum for Year 7 - 10. In total there are 32 Projects; 8 per year level. Each project covers all the Learning Areas of the New Zealand Curriculum.
